After receiving his son's letter, the father immediately replies by sending a letter back.

Dear Son,

I kNOw that astroNomy, ecoNOmics, and oceaNography are eNOugh to keep even an hoNOur student busy. Do NOt forget that the pursuit of kNOledge is a NOble task, and you can never study eNOugh.

General Knowledge Competition

28th July 2006 was an eventful day. After the excitement in the morning, four of my students and myself went to the Dunman High School for a competition - the General Knowledge Challenge 2006.

Although we did not make it into the finals, we felt that we had tried our best. We also learnt that there are many students out there who read more and know more than us.

Our reflection:
We need to stay humble always. We need to work hard and to work smart.

Singapore - Japan Exchange Programme

On 28th July 2006, a group of teachers and students from Osaka, Japan visited my school. We welcomed them with songs and dance put up by the guzheng ensemble and by students who had agreed to be hosts for the Japanese students.

Next, the Japanese guests, together with the reporters who were invited to report on the event, visited my class. They took pictures and video of the students, classroom and activities. The students were very excited to have many visitors in the classroom.

I felt that the classroom experience would be more fulfilling for the Japanese guests and the reporters if:

(1) The students can greet the visitors with more energy and enthusiasm.
(2) The students can have better discipline during lesson and group activity.

Cultural Exchange Programme

On 21 July 2006, my class and I visited the Singapore Japanese School (Changi Campus). Every visit to the Japanese School is a surprise as the teachers and pupils in the Japanese School always have new activities for us.
This year, we had the tug-of-war as the main activity. As observer, I enjoyed watching the tug-of-war. I believe the students had fun too. The exchange provides them with the opportunity to make new friends and learn about a culture different from our own. This is what we call "learning beyond the classroom".
